Eric Rader

Hi I'm Eric. My family and I live in Olympia,  Washington. I work out of my home studio as a glass artist. I hope you have enjoyed looking at my creations. I feel honored to create art that people all over the world like well enough to wear proudly.

I seek to expand the horizons of glass bead making. Color, precision, complexity, and experimentation are hallmarks of my work. I see each bead as a work of art. I strive not to set boundaries as to how  far the art of glass beads can be taken or what they should look like. With imagination and skill the possibilities are endless. I can't wait to see what I will be making next year.

Lampwork Beads

If you have just discovered the art of lampwork this is a brief description of what is involved. Lampwork has been around for centuries. It started with simple beads and techniques and has slowly evolved to using more an more advanced torches and techniques. The basic idea is to melt colored rods of glass onto a steel rod.   Beads are then placed in a waiting hot kiln. When they are cooled in the morning the beads are removed from the steel rods or 'mandrels' and cleaned.
